Bali can be busy. But it doesn’t have to be.
Hidden in the green landscapes of Tabanan, Bali Secret Jungle (BSJ) offers a different kind of retreat — small, personal, and surrounded by nature.
Instead of joining a large retreat group or following a crowded schedule, you stay in an intimate setting where the experience can feel more personal. There is space to slow down, spend time in nature, discover local Balinese traditions, and simply enjoy having fewer things demanding your attention.
Our philosophy is simple: Reconnect With Nature. Rediscover Yourself in Bali’s Hidden Jungle Retreat.
What Is a Private Jungle Retreat?
A private jungle retreat is a retreat experience designed around privacy, nature, and a smaller number of guests.
At BSJ, you are not arriving to become part of a large retreat group. Our small capacity creates a quieter and more intimate atmosphere, giving you more space to experience the retreat at your own rhythm.

You may spend your morning practicing yoga, explore the surrounding village during the day, experience a traditional Balinese activity, or simply sit quietly and listen to the jungle.
There is still structure to your retreat, but there is also room to slow down.
That is what “private” means to us: less crowd, more space, and a more personal experience. BSJ’s positioning intentionally emphasizes small capacity rather than mass-resort tourism.
Why Tabanan?
Much of Bali tourism is concentrated around places such as Canggu, Seminyak and Ubud.
Tabanan offers another side of the island.

Here, the landscape is shaped by villages, farmland, temples, rice terraces and tropical forest. Life moves differently, making it particularly suited to travelers who want to step away from Bali’s busier tourism centers.
Our retreat experiences can also bring you beyond the property to places such as Pura Batukaru and the Jatiluwih rice terraces, connecting your stay with the wider landscape and culture of this part of Bali.
Why Bali Secret Jungle?
BSJ was created around a simple idea: a retreat should be more than somewhere beautiful to sleep.
We describe ourselves as an eco-luxury wellness retreat rooted in nature, culture, and slow living. Rather than building for mass tourism, BSJ intentionally remains small and connected to its surroundings.
Around 70% of the materials used in the property are recycled, while approximately 70% of the land is intentionally left as forest.

Many experiences are also created together with people from the surrounding community — including farmers, artisans, local food businesses and cultural practitioners.
For us, luxury is not about having more.
It is about having quiet, privacy, connection, and enough time to slow down.
What Does “Private” Mean at BSJ?
Private does not necessarily mean being completely isolated from everyone.
It means BSJ is intentionally different from a large group retreat.
Our capacity is small. The atmosphere is intimate. You are not surrounded by dozens of guests following the same program together.

You can come alone or with someone you care about while still having opportunities to interact with local people and experience Balinese culture.
It gives you the balance between having your own space and still feeling connected to where you are.
What Are the Cabins Like?
Our cabins are designed to keep nature close.
Instead of filling the room with distractions, the experience focuses on natural materials, open views and large windows looking toward the surrounding jungle.

There is intentionally no television competing for your attention.
Wake up, open the window, and the first thing waiting for you is the forest.
It is a simple idea that reflects BSJ’s approach to digital detox: sometimes replacing a screen with a window is enough to change the rhythm of your day.
What Can I Do During a Retreat?
Activities depend on the retreat package and length of stay.
Across our different journeys, experiences can include yoga and meditation, traditional Balinese massage, sound healing, Melukat water purification, Canang-making, local cooking, painting and creative workshops, farm walks, and cultural visits.

Longer retreats can include visits to Pura Batukaru and Jatiluwih, while shorter stays focus on giving you a meaningful reset without requiring weeks away from everyday life.
Not every day needs to be full.
Slow mornings, afternoon tea, reading, journaling and simply doing nothing for a while are part of the experience too.
How Remote Is Bali Secret Jungle?
BSJ is intentionally away from Bali’s busiest tourism areas.
That is part of the experience.
You come here for jungle mornings, village surroundings and a slower rhythm rather than nightlife, shopping streets or a packed tourist district.
Guests should arrive expecting a nature-based stay rather than a conventional urban resort experience.
The reward is something increasingly difficult to find in Bali: space to hear the surroundings — and yourself — more clearly.
Is BSJ Suitable for Solo Travelers?
Yes.
A private retreat can be particularly meaningful when traveling alone because you do not need to arrive with a group or fit into an established social circle.
Solo travelers can follow their retreat journey while still meeting local people through workshops, ceremonies and activities.
For those traveling through a life transition, recovering from a demanding period, or simply wanting time alone, our longer programs provide more space to settle into the experience.
Is BSJ Suitable for Couples?
Yes.
Couples can use the retreat as an opportunity to spend intentional time together without having every day dominated by sightseeing or screens.
Our 3-Night Balance & Renewal Retreat, in particular, is designed in part for couples looking for quality time, combining daily yoga with experiences such as Melukat and a Canang workshop with the local community.
You can experience Bali together while still having time simply to be together.
Is Bali Secret Jungle a Wellness Retreat?
Yes — but our idea of wellness goes beyond treatments.
BSJ combines elements such as yoga, meditation, massage and sound healing with nature, creativity, cultural experiences and slower daily routines.
Depending on the package, your retreat may also include traditional ceremonies, workshops and village experiences.
The intention is not to keep you inside a wellness bubble.
It is to reconnect wellness with nature, culture and everyday life.
Can I Do a Digital Detox Here?
Absolutely.
Digital detox is one of the central ideas behind the BSJ experience.
It does not necessarily mean you must surrender your phone when you arrive. Instead, we create an environment where you may naturally feel less need to look at it.
There is no TV in the room. There are large windows, forest views, yoga, books, conversations, workshops and long stretches of quiet.
The goal is not to make technology the enemy.
It is simply to remember what your attention feels like when fewer things are competing for it. BSJ specifically identifies slow living and digital detox as one of its core brand pillars.
How Does BSJ Work With the Local Community?
BSJ is designed to be connected to the village rather than separated from it.
Instead of bringing every experience in-house, we collaborate with people from the surrounding community, including farmers, artisans, cultural practitioners and local food businesses.
Depending on your retreat, you might walk through local farms, learn how cacao moves from tree to product, make Canang, join a creative workshop, or experience Balinese traditions with people who actually practice them.
The intention is simple: tourism should create meaningful connections with the place guests have traveled so far to experience.
What Should I Expect Before Booking?
Come expecting something different from a conventional Bali resort.
BSJ is small, nature-based and intentionally removed from the rhythm of Bali’s major tourism centers.
Your experience may include early mornings, outdoor environments, village activities, cultural experiences and plenty of quiet time.
Most importantly, come without feeling that you need to fill every hour.
This is not a retreat built around rushing from one activity to another.
The slower moments are part of the program.
